Candle Care
Here are my personal candle care recommendations...
A little care goes a long way. Follow these simple rituals to keep your candle burning beautifully, safely and for longer.
Before you light
Always place your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface, away from sunlight, anything flammable, children and pets.
Before each burn, trim the wick to around 5 mm. This helps create a clean, even flame and keeps the candle burning beautifully.
Let it burn well
For the first burn of a jar candle, let the wax melt all the way to the edges. This helps prevent tunnelling and allows your candle to burn more evenly.
Try not to burn your candle for more than 3–4 hours at a time, and always allow the wax to cool and fully solidify before lighting it again.
Keep the wax pool clean and free from wick trimmings, matches, dust or any other debris.
And, most importantly, never leave a burning candle unattended. Always extinguish it before leaving the room.
When your candle is resting, keep it somewhere cool and dry, away from direct sunlight.
Sculptural Candles
Our sculptural candles are made to melt as they burn — it’s part of their beauty.
Because of this, always place them on a heat-resistant tray, plate or candle holder that can safely collect the melted wax and protect the surface underneath.
Give your jar a second life
When your candle has come to its end, the jar doesn’t have to.
Make sure the candle is completely extinguished and cool, then pour hot, not boiling, water into the jar. Leave it until the remaining wax floats to the surface and hardens. Remove the wax, then gently wipe away any residue and the wick base with a paper towel.
Wash the jar with warm soapy water and give it a new purpose — for storage, flowers, plants, or whatever you love.
One last thing: never pour leftover wax down the sink. Once it cools, it can solidify inside the pipes and cause blockages.
